Gratitude. It’s not something we talk about as fundamentally important in business especially when comparing to finance, marketing, or sales.

However, without gratitude, we would have no sustained growth. The ability to be grateful is key to life balance and happiness, and this transcends into business. When you show gratitude you feel positive and inspired.

Below are 3 positive things that you can do to build a gratitude attitude in your business:

1. Regularly tell your employees how much you appreciate them.
Want a healthy work environment? One of the easiest ways to help that happen is to recognize the people who are working hard for you. They are the face of your company. They are the ones who are taking care of your customers. Tell them thank you, you're doing a great job, way to think outside the box to solve that problem, etc.

Another way to show them that you appreciate them is build in time for them to go to their kids school events. There is nothing worse then having to miss your child’s family lunch or school play because you will lose your pay.

These events are short and sweet and important. This will build moral and keep your employees from calling in sick for a full day when they are not. If you can, relieve the stress of them choosing between providing and missing out on important memories.

2. Let your customers know you appreciate them spending their hard-earned money with you.
There are many ways to do this depending what kind of customer you have. If it is a onetime purchase, make sure to say "Thank You, we value your business".

If it is a long-term customer take them out to lunch occasionally or give them a call just to say thank you and that you appreciate their loyalty. This will build a trusting relationship and they will think twice when thinking of moving on to a competitor. 

3. Most importantly. Look at where you are and find things everyday that you are grateful for.
You’re running a business! You have a group of people who trust you as their leader and are choosing to work beside you. There are customers who see the value in what you are doing.

You get to earn a living doing what you love. Maybe this has been a dream of yours or possibly this was your only option for the time but whatever it is it is a blessing that you have the opportunity to do it. 

Make this month of thanks count. Be intentional to see what you can be grateful for each day and let others know why you are thankful for them.

It will be your best month ever.
