Selling or buying a home can be an intimidating process for everyone from newbie to investor.

That's why Jon Levin created Urban Ridge Realty (or URR for short) in 2010.
He wanted to bring together a team of agents that would go far beyond just closing deals. Instead, he wanted his agents to offer clients a deeper understanding of what they're going through, better knowledge of the communities they serve, and the ability to think outside the box.

It's a simple yet consistent premise for an industry that's always changing. Yet it's this dedication to their mission while remaining flexible that allows Jon and URR to continue to thrive more than nine years in.

What’s the obstacle that you’ve overcome that you’re most proud of?

The most difficult obstacle that URR has overcome is trying to recruit agents while being considered a “boutique” firm. Most agents feel they need to work at a large brokerage to succeed in this industry so trying to recruit them to come to work at Urban Ridge can be a challenge, but we’ve more than doubled in size 2018 and plan to continue this growth in 2019 and beyond.

What do you know now that you wish you’d known then?
Not worrying about what the competition is doing.Just do what you do best, take great care of the people you work with, be fair, honest and be there when they need you. You can waste so much time focusing on others that you lose sight of what you have to offer.

What’s your best advice to other small business owners?
Don’t be afraid to take a chance but be prepared for everything.

What’s a typical day like for you?
There’s no such thing as a typical day for me!However, I usually start the day at home (after dropping off kids at school) by getting caught up on all correspondence. Then, I head in to the office, prepare for any showings, closings, agent meeting, etc.No matter how much I like to plan out a day there are always things constantly changing.

What’s next for you and Urban Ridge Realty?

My main focus in 2019 is to increase the number of our agents. Most of URR’s recent growth has come from current relationships, agent referrals and word of mouth. In 2019 I will be implementing an aggressive agent recruiting campaign to hit our current and future goals.
